Let's face it - we know that we have to make a change to keep the earth spinning and to keep the golf courses green today, tomorrow and in the future.
But, how do we do it without compromising? On a round of golf at a local golf course in Copenhagen, DK, we had an idea of how to inspire and accelerate golf’s contribution to a sustainable world. We found out that the current golf tees destroy the greenkeeper's machines due to the hard plastic and chemical wood. Moreover, the golf tees does not decompose or return to nature fast enough. The wood and bamboo tee production result in unsustainable harvesting around the world and the long transportation across the globe does not fit into a sustainable solution. Greenup collects coffee waste from local cafés and restaurants to minimize waste and cut off wood and plastic from the production. Thereby, Greenup delivers golf tees made of plastic free biomaterial and coffee waste. Why? To cut off long transportation and tree/bamboo harvest by utilizing local coffee waste. Also, creating a product that not only breaks down and return to nature, but also benefits on nitrogen and phosphorus found in coffee which is important components for healthy grass growth. The big compromise? Greenup golf tees smells like roasted coffee. Is it a compromise? We don't think so. It's actually delicious. |
